Your Job Summary:
The Actuarial Analyst assists the supervising actuary in analyzing enterprise-level data to understand key trends, identify emerging risks, and quantify the impact of healthcare intervention programs. The primary responsibility of the Actuarial Analyst is to analyze and report on medical costs, risk scores, total cost of care and healthcare economics in a proactive, autonomous and entrepreneurial fashion.  The ability to think creatively and analytically combined with a high level of curiosity and strong work ethic is critical. This position also collaborates with the Accounting and Finance departments in preparing financial statements and performing financial analyses.

Your Background:
Bachelor degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business or other closely related field.
At least 2-3 years’ experience in an actuarial role or in the health insurance industry.
Required to have recently passed at least 2 actuarial exams administered by the SOA and be actively pursuing ASA designation; additional SOA actuarial exams passed are considered a plus.
Requires strong programming skills using SAS, SQL, or similar advanced programming software.
Requires advanced Excel application design skills.
Demonstrable knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis concepts.
Prefer 1-3 years’ experience in a Managed Care Organization (Health Plan/HMO/MSO/TPA/IPA/etc).
Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization as well as with external contacts.
Must be able to prioritize, plan, and handle multiple tasks/demands simultaneously.
Your Duties: 
  • Build and maintain sophisticated models for analyzing corporate data
  • Combine and reconcile disparate data sources used for analyses and reports
  • Coordinate monthly financial reporting processes to ensure deadlines are met
  • Measure the value of healthcare intervention programs
  • Work with Actuarial department to monitor existing/detect emerging risks
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Finance departments as needed
  • Perform other analyses as required to support Health Plan senior leadership.
