Manager of Informatics Job Summary: 
  • Coordinate reporting and analytical talents pipeline, as well as manage projects in concert with other work stream leaders within the Informatics and Analytics department. 
  • Advise leaders & operators on the prioritization of projects and business implications of reporting/analytics as it relates to the quality to the organization.
  • Manage and develop reporting/analytical approaches to identify, measure and evaluate quality solutions and services.
  • Prescribe a set performance standards and utilize them to guide, train and mentor reporting/analytical staff to conduct opportunity analyses, program evaluation work and reporting/analytics execution.
  • Manage team assigned to unit as well as develop policies and procedures, assuring department product quality, mentoring, training, hiring/firing and performance appraisals
  • Provide oversight for leadership and direction of quality and safety initiatives within the Quality spoke for continuous improvement of clinical excellence, service quality outcomes and patient satisfaction
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating reporting/ analytics related to medical management, care management, case management, utilization management and disease management programs required to support business goals and quality program with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Mentor direct reports and coach staff in attainment of  operational excellence; lead and conduct  educational sessions to train team on the use of specific systems, process improvement and quality management tools and techniques
  • Oversee audits and monitor progress of team members supporting the business process and assists in regular assessment of the team’s performance and makes suggestions for improvement
Manager of Informatics Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, or healthcare related discipline such as nursing. A Masters or a Ph.D. is highly preferred.
  • 8+ years of combined experience in business intelligence, reporting, analytics and health services research.
  • Demonstrated project management skills as well as the ability to efficiently work and manage teams and resources.
  • Knowledge of health plan and delivery system operations, health care informatics, and healthcare benefits and terminology (e.g., care management).
  • Understanding of operations in the Health Care industry and a strong acumen of business processes, including operations, delivery models and revenue models.
  • Understanding of program evaluation life cycle, predictive modeling, data mining, and clinical best practices preferred. Experience in financial modeling, value analysis, and other financial management preferred.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of healthcare quality and patient safety management, benchmarking, outcome measurement, team development, data interpretation, and quality/safety tools.
  • Experience in health system finance, strategic planning or decision support analytics preferred. Content knowledge related to program outcomes evaluation, measurement development, electronic health records (e.g., Epic), BI tools (e.g., BO), data visualizations tools (e.g., Tableau), statistical software such as SAS and modeling techniques, as well as general health service research and outcomes reporting/analytics.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry and healthcare information standards such as HL7, LOINC, FHIR, ICD 9/10 and CPT codes, industry standard groupers (e.g., ETGs, DRGs, DCGs, etc.) as well as of health care delivery system processes.
  • Knowledge of CMS standards and other regulatory standards such as NCQA as well as standards of care necessary.
  • Excellent written and oral communications is required, Six Sigma or LEAN certification preferred.
