Biostatistician – Managed Care

Biostatistician Job Summary: 
  • Prepare a variety of reports including statistical analyses for stakeholders to assist with decision-making and tracking accountability.
  • Develop new reports, dashboards and other means to enable transparency and to monitor system-wide performance of program progress, total cost of care and clinical quality.
  • Support acquisition and implementation of new information sources, data collection strategies, data governance, and analytics.
  • Monitor and interpret the performance of a participant "scorecard" report to track accountability on a monthly basis; review and analyze performance data, and summarize it to present the participant
  • Expert user of Lightbeam Heath Solutions, a data warehouse and analytics system, and support internal and external stakeholders in optimizing their use
  • Collect, trend and compare CMS claims data on cost and utilization, as well as quality scores.
  • Mine and aggregate dataset to identify trends/opportunities at regional- and national-level
  • Supply data from Lightbeam to internal staff for grant reporting requirements
  • Discuss scorecard performance with internal stakeholders, identifying areas for improvement and strategies to achieve improvements
  • Create and upload relevant education videos in the learning management system; develop associated written education documents to accompany videos

Biostatistician Background:   
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in health informatics, health administration, computing, epidemiology, statistics, or other technical field required; MBA or similar advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 2-3 years of previous data analysis and/or applied research experience, including 2-3 years of SQL report writing.
  • Previous HMO/Managed Care or Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred; experience or interest in understanding patient care delivery in rural health care setting a plus
  • Prefer understanding of data formats: Medicare claims, EMR, lab and pharmacy
  • Excellent knowledge of data collection, analysis, statistics and data presentation with experience in data mining techniques and procedures
  • Prefer Industry knowledge including Accountable Care Organizations, health care reform, population health management models
  • Ability to present concepts and analysis in front of diverse audiences
  • Experience with quality reporting such as HEDIS, PQRS or CMS STAR ratings, highly preferred.
