Director of Nursing Job Summary:
  • Responsible for nursing operations including budgeting, staffing, recruitment and retention, employee engagement, nurse sensitive indicators, nursing research and staff education.
  • Leads efforts to enhance the patient's perception of care.
  • Ensures standardization of quality, accreditation, and patient safety efforts and consistent, region-wide implementation and monitoring.
  • Strives to continually improve care by developing clinical partnerships with clinical program and clinical services leadership to assure that we provide safe, high quality, efficient, interdisciplinary care team.
  • Works collaboratively to provide operational leadership for Clinical Quality structure, including review of Board dashboard, review CMS/Joint Commission requirements, and focus on MD and nurse practice issues, monitoring, implementing improvements, and measuring outcomes.
  • Coordinates with Quality, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Care Management, Ethics, and nursing operations and other operations as assigned (e.g. pharmacy).
  • Oversees patient flow and care management activities to assure appropriate patient outcomes and fiscal accountability.
  • Provides leadership and support in the development, selection, implementation, evaluation and integration of health care technology and information management systems that support patient care.
Director of Nursing Background:
  • Valid, unrestricted state Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Around 5 years’ clinical nursing experience in a high acuity setting.
  • At least 2-3 years previous management experience, in roles of increasing responsibility, which included hiring and supervising nurses.
  • Program development and knowledge of NCQA and CMS standards is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of healthcare & insurance industry current and future trends, in order to assess future market needs.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office) and typing skills are necessary.
  • Skilled in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas.
  • Able to transform assignments from high-level objectives into independently established detailed goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional critical thinking skills.
