Chart Review Nurse Job Summary:
  • The Chart Review Nurse coordinates and performs onsite data collection and data entry; when possible data collection can be performed remotely via scanned/faxed documentation.
  • The sole purpose of this position is for  GPRO (Group Practice Reporting Option) and HEDIS (Health Plan Employer Data Information Set) data collection and related activities, as assigned.
  • The Nurse is responsible for complete and accurate medical record review of charts collected from provider offices and the abstraction of critical data from medical records received via on site, fax, mail, or electronic means for all GPRO measures for the designated population.  
Chart Review Nurse Background:
  • Valid, unrestricted state nursing license (L.V.N. or R.N.).
  • Possess experience in GPRO or HEDIS data abstraction; must have recently (last 3 years) completed at least 1 full season.
  • Strong analytical mind, with problem solving and investigative skills, an aptitude for accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to review and extract significant data from medical records (EHR/EMR).
  • Knowledge and experience of medical terminology, medical record systems, and statistically reliable sampling methods.
  • Knowledgeable of the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) and Health Plan Employer Data Information Set (HEDIS), as well as standards and reporting requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, and applicable state plans.
  • Prior HEDIS chart abstraction experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in MS Office, E-mail and EMR systems, and multiple additional programs including word processing, and data management.
  • Candidates should have basic computer knowledge working with excel and the internet, EMR experience required.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment; and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess superior verbal and written communication skills, able to interface with business and medical professionals.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in are (up to 1 hour outside of metropolitan areas) roughly 70%-90% of the time.
