JOB SUMMARY:
 
  • Manages and directs assigned Hospital Material Management Staff. Included but not limited to Materials Management Associates, Cardiac Services Inventory Specialists, Surgical Inventory Specialists, Surgical Coordinators and Lead Surgical Materials Associates. Responsible for Associate actions, including interviewing, hiring, coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Develops and reviews department position ESU criteria and performs associate evaluations.
  • Provides leadership, motivation and support to foster growth of staff, makes available resources for ongoing employee education.
  • Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis.
  • Establishes objectives and strategies for Materials Management in support of Health System goals.
  • Determines work schedules and manages the time-keeping system (KRONOS).
  • Establishes and ensures procedures are followed to assuring patient care is not compromised.
  • Establishes and monitors policy for dated product handling, ensures appropriate procedures are adhered to regarding product rotation and reviews performance for appropriate stocking levels.
  • Plans and leads staff meetings and huddles.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of 5 years of position related experience required and 2 years of supervisory level experience preferred. Healthcare supply chain experience, specifically in surgical materials management is required.
  • Associates degree in Materials Management, Logistics, Business or a related field required, Bachelors preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written is required.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management functions to include shipping, receiving, inventory management, warehouse storage, distribution, and regulations and related safety requirements. Knowledge of medical supplies (including surgical supplies) is desired.
  • Ability to navigate and manage multiple information systems, experience with PeopleSoft and OptiFlex strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must have demonstrated experience implementing new programs aimed at optimizing department operational efficiencies.
  • Must demonstrate problem solving, organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
