Supervisor of Quality Improvement Job Summary:
  • The Supervisor is responsible for leadership, mentorship, and supervision of the Quality Improvement & Population Health functions performed by the QI Specialists and Health Promotion Educators.
  • Leads the year-round coordination of population health quality improvement processes, including the design, implementation and maintenance of P4P, Gaps in Care, as well as system-wide Process Improvement Projects
  • Responsible for the annual update, maintenance, and development of Quality Program Description, Quality Program Annual Evaluation, and associated work plan documents, including but not limited to the coordination of plan-wide updates by staff, and presentation to oversight bodies.
  • Project management of population-based improvement activities, including but not limited to leadership and team-building, planning, implementation and coordination of timely recurring and innovative interventions.
  • Assist with HEDIS medical record data abstraction when needed to relieve department workload; conduct data validation and other data reporting activities as needed.
  • For direct reports, lead and mentor team members, assure ongoing staff development, goal-setting, and performance appraisal.
Supervisor of Quality Improvement Background:
  • Does NOT require Registered Nurse (R.N.) license, but it is a plus.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or similar certification is preferred
  • Around 2-3 years’ experience at a Managed Care Organization (Health Plan/HMO/MSO/TPA/IPA/etc) is required.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in health plan Quality Improvement and/or Population Health.
  • At least 1-2 years previous team lead or supervisor experience, in roles of increasing responsibility
  • Prefer (recent) HEDIS medical record data abstraction experience.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office) and typing skills are necessary.
  • Skilled in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas.
  • Able to transform assignments from high-level objectives into independently established detailed goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional critical thinking skills.
